With so many red carpet events they are attending and all the paparazzi following their every move, it really is hard to believe that there are celebs who don’t have stylists. However, even though they are rare, some famous ladies just like to dress themselves and don’t hire stylists. Check them out.
Mad Men actress January Jones claims she loves fashion so much she doesn’t want a stylist. “I’m a big fan of vintage fashion,” she told style.co.uk. Jones often takes a risk on the red carpet, but it almost always pays off. She works with the same designers again and again, like Versace and Lanvin.
Not only does she style herself, but husband Ryan Reynolds too. She said dressing herself has become one of her favorite hobbies and she learned a lot about fashion while working on hit TV show Gossip Girl. The actress often appears on best dressed lists, and her style is revered in the fashion industry. “I often see people and they look great, but I can identify who styled them,” Lively told Marie Claire last year. “Every stylist has a signature. Maybe it sounds conceited, but I’m lucky to be on such a fashion-centric show (Gossip Girl). There’s no designer I don’t have access to.”
While Marion Cotillard will happily admit she has professionals take care of her hair and makeup, the actress says she prefers to choose her own outfits for big red carpet events. Marion’s look can go from modern to romantic, and she obviously knows what looks good on her.
Camilla Belle’s flirty yet elegant style has been cultivated all on its own. “I like taking risks,” she told Hollywoodlife.com. “I don’t have a stylist, I never have!” Belle says she relies on the keen eye of her mother, a Brazilian designer, for a second opinion.
One would assume that one of the best dressed actresses has a stylist, but Diane does it all by herself and, as she says, fashion is her “second language.” Kruger rarely puts a foot wrong on or off the red carpet, which fashionista.com attributes to her model background: “Models have great style because they watch stylists and designers work for hours at a time. So yes, Kruger likely styles herself. When Karl Lagerfeld is personally sending you items, it’s hard to go wrong.”
She may have a quirky fashion sense, but it landed Helena on Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed list in 2010. “I don’t feel any pressure to dress well,” the actress admitted. “When I was younger, I cared more what people said.”
Rachel Bilson admits she doesn’t use the help of a stylist because she thinks fashion should be fun. “I really dress myself. I’ve been known to put a necklace in my hair,” she said. “That`s what getting dressed should be. It`s about fun and experimenting. I think you either enjoy it or you don’t – and I do.”
