Cameron Diaz’s upcoming comedy love Tape is the very first movie in which she bares it all. While there’s nothing strange about film nudity and Cameron certainly isn’t the first actress who has done it, there are some stars that simply refuse to get naked for a scene. Here they are.
Anna Kendrick
Anna has starred in a lot of movies over the past few years, but none of them have required nudity. She has stated she won’t do it anytime soon: “I have been lucky because I have not been pigeonholed into the teenage movie category. I am not criticizing people who do that [nude scenes] but I plan to keep doing what I am doing and hope it keeps going good.”
Jessica Alba
She played a stripper in Sin City, but managed not to take off all her clothes. “I don’t do nudity. I just don’t,” Jessica told Elle magazine. “Maybe that makes me a bad actress. Maybe I won’t get hired in some things. But I have too much anxiety.” Speaking to Glamour, she recently said: “I don’t want my grandparents to see my boobs. It would be weird at Christmas. And, I mean, really, if you look at the movies I have done, getting naked would never ‘elevate’ the picture.”
Mandy Moore
The former teen star is uneasy about baring it all on-screen, telling USA Today, “It would be completely uncomfortable to walk down the street and know that the person passing by had seen me without my clothes on.” She’s so against it, she’s even turned down several roles which required showing some skin.
Emma Watson
Best known for playing Hermione in the Harry Potter movies, Watson has since matured into a serious actress. In the few films she’s acted in since the franchise ended, she’s kept her clothes on, with only an underwear appearance in Perks of Being a Wallflower. The Brown-educated actress is someone who likes having a good image and doesn’t want to taint it with risque nudity. “I don’t want everyone to forget me as Hermione. I’m really proud of her,” Watson said about why she doesn’t expose herself.
Jessica Simpson
She says, “I will never do nudity. I don’t care how dark and intellectual the role could be, you know. I don’t care if I frickin‘ could get an Oscar for it, I’m not going to do it.”
Julia Roberts
Even though a lot of Oscar-winning actresses have done nude scenes, Roberts is adverse to getting naked. “You know it’s not really what I do, so if you are going ask me to do it, you have to expect it to be toned down. You know, as a mom of three, I feel like that,” she said on not doing nudity. She’s also picked roles that haven’t involved a lot of love scenes.
Blake Lively
The Gossip Girl actress is apparently petrified of baring it all on-screen; in fact, even showing a little bit of skin makes her uncomfortable. As she told Britain’s Glamour magazine, “I do panic before I have to wear a really skimpy outfit. I don’t have enough willpower.”
Isla Fisher
“I feel like if you have a female comic character and then you see her nipples, then she is no longer funny,” Fisher told the Sydney Morning Herald. “…which is clearly wrong, but that was my theory, and that’s why I didn’t want to do it.”
Megan Fox
“That’s the last thing I want to see–what I look like having love,” Fox said once. “It would take one shot of me not looking good and I would not be able to have love ever again, because I would always just see myself looking like a hippo having love.” Fox doesn’t have a problem wearing lingerie on camera, though.
Reese Witherspoon
Reese never misses the chance to talk about how she won’t disrobe for a role, telling Glamour magazine, “If actresses take their clothes off, they objectify themselves. I am flabbergasted by how many legitimate actresses do it.”
Mila Kunis
The Ukrainian beauty and soon-to-be mother has appeared on several “sexiest women alive” lists yet, she’s never acted in the buff. “I showed side boob,” she told Allure. “I don’t need to show a**. You get one or the other. You don’t get both.” In Forgetting Sarah Marshall, she used a body double in a topless scene and used the same tactic in Friends With Benefits.
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt has turned down the chance to do a Playboy pictorial and says the decision against posing nude has to do with her thoughts on her body. “For the most part, yeah, I’m happy with my body, but there are days when I’m like, ‘Ugh! Really? Why is it so hard to fit into my jeans?” the actress explained.
Christina Hendricks
We’re all well acquainted with Christina Hendrick’s cleavage, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to go nude. “It kind of hurt my feelings at first,” she told New York Magazine. “Anytime someone talks about your figure constantly, you get nervous, you get really self-conscious. I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body!”
