Although Twitter is quite popular among celebrities, there are those who are not fans of social media. Amy Poehler admits she is terrified of these websites and doesn’t want to join Twitter or Instagram because reading negative comments about herself online always hurts her feelings.
She told Paper magazine: ”I’m not a real social media person. I’m not on Twitter. I try not to read too much online because I always get my feelings hurt, even if someone’s flattering you. Like, somebody tweeting, ‘Call me crazy, but I think Amy Poehler’s attractive.’ And you’re like, ‘Okay? Thank you?’ Or like someone writing, ‘I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that I’d have love with Amy Poehler.’ ”
The 42-year-old actress believes that social media activity has gone out of control, with tons of selfies published every day.
”The amount of Instagram selfies seems crazy out-of-control. The idea of, ‘This is my face and everyone needs to see it all the time,’ is so far from the privacy that people used to seek. Now everyone acts the way ’80s performance artists used to act,” she added.
Amy also says she is ”terrified” about how social media could affect her kids.
Well, what Amy fears of is very reasonable. Besides, she is a very sensitive and fragile person since she reacts to everything people will say or write about her on-line. The idea is that you need olive your own life and what you like to do, no matter what others will think or say. People will always have an opinion about you, and it is not necessarily to be good. Just stick to what you feel is right to and be happy, Amy! If you do not like social networks, perfect, just avoid them!
I agree with Amy. If I were that famous I would have been terrified by the social media too. I myself do not expose my pictures and pictures of my close ones to the social media networks. We live in a very uncaring world and some people are ready to do many bad things for money and some people are simply sick. You never know, who is looking at your pictures and reads about you at this moment if you have your information on-line. Some people get really easy under the internet image obsession. So, beware!
