After revealing that she had a preventive double mastectomy, Angelina Jolie is focused on helping other women with same health issues she has.
The actress had to undergo the surgery because after testing she found out that she carried the “faulty” gene Brca1 which means that she had an 87 per cent risk of developing breast cancer. Now she wants to make it possible to lower the cost of the gene testing so more women could have the tests done.
Her fiancée Brad Pitt said: “Her idea was that if someone could learn from her story, then she would love to share that. Her focus now is that all people have access to the testing and know what they can do about it. And she has certainly shown if you do your research and make your decision, what’s best for you, it doesn’t have to be a scary thing; it can be an empowering thing.”
