Warner Bros. executives have announced that Ben Affleck is the new Batman. He will portray the superhero in the upcoming sequel to this year’s Superman epic Man of Steel.

Greg Silverman, studio’s president of creative development, said: “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular superheroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent, and we know he and Zack (the director) will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”

The movie is scheduled for worldwide release on July 17, 2015.
