Celebrity guests are an integral part of the most successful TV talk shows. But what happens when a star does or says something that pisses off a talk show host or television network? Well, they get banned. Check out these celebrities who won’t be asked back on certain shows.
Comedian Kathy Griffin is no stranger to being banned from talk shows, as she has made herself infamous on The View, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman. The reason is that Kathy likes to swear, insult people and take her clothes off. David Letterman had previously banned Griffin in the 90s for her incessant potty mouth, but lifted the restriction in 2009 by having her on his show. The interview began normally until the comedian stood up and decided to remove her dress.
Because Vince Vaughn’s film The Dilemma features gay jokes and Ellen DeGeneres is clearly a pro-gay marriage advocate, the actor was banned from promoting his film on her show. The host cited a particularly homophobic scene in the film as the reason. Even without Ellen’s reaction, the film tanked and Vaughn made up with the host. He has appeared on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show numerous times since.
Last year, Jon Stewart announced he had banned Hugh Grant from appearing on The Daily Show. The decision came on the basis of a particularly unpleasant visit Grant made to program in 2009 while promoting Did You Hear about the Morgans? Stewart described his visit by saying, “He’s giving everyone shit the whole time, and he’s a big pain in the ass.”
Even before his talk show aired on CNN, Piers Morgan announced that he would ban certain guests, beginning with Madonna. Morgan later upped the stakes by tweeting that she wasn’t welcome on his U.K. talk show either. Referring to her as ‘boring’ and having ‘considerably less’ talent than Lady Gaga, Morgan justified banning Madonna merely on the grounds that he found her to be an older subject that had since been replaced. When the singer joined Twitter, Piers Morgan decided it was the choice opportunity to sink his claws into the singer. He tweeted at Madonna “Welcome to Twitter. You’re still banned from my show. Love Piers X.”
Adrien Brody hosted Saturday Night Live back in 2003 and delivered a performance that the show’s producer Lorne Michaels found highly offensive. The actor did not stick to the show’s script and when introducing the musical performer Sean Paul, Brody came on stage in dreadlocks and a horrific Jamaican accent. Though the crowd laughed, Brody was banned from the show permanently.
During an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Joan Rivers revealed Johnny Carson banned her from The Tonight Show when she opted to start a competitive talk show on Fox. The show failed, but the ban has stood for over twenty years.
Gary Busey was banned from The Howard Stern show in 2001 after he picked up co-guest Robin Quiver in a suffocating bear hug and then proceeded to wrestle his host to the floor. In 2003, Busey would blame the incident on his split personality disorder, saying it occurred because of one of the thirteen personalities residing within him.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens, Anderson Cooper announced his wish to ban any and all Kardashians from his Bravo day time talk show Anderson. That includes Khloe, who received this devastating news after launching a Twitter post announcing her crush on Cooper.
Well, we are all people with our opinions and jokes. Not all can be censored and not our points of views are shared. Still many need to understand they are on TV when attending the shows and behave reasonable. This was a very bad decision to tale of the dress for Kathy Griffin, no matter what outstanding curves she has and one cannot judge or insult others during the show as other people are watching it. I bet people simply lack culture and respect to others. I stick to the point some celebrities are better banned and many things should be censored as you never know who gets to watch this or that TV program or show. Kardashians should leave TV forever!
Hmm that is weird from Anderson Cooper to act like that with the Kardashians, I understand very well that the entire world doesn’t really like them but it doesn’t matter that they are supposed to be banned from shows, that is not nice of him, and I am sure that if the Kardashians were guys he would never do something like that, but it is so easy to do that with the girls. And I feel sorry for the Chloe Kardashian, as I don’t really understand how a girl can have a crush on a man who is known to be a homosexual, that is something weird, but then again nothing in the world of love is understandable enough.
Hmmm I am wondering why do some man are so mean with the women, like that UK TV show guy Piers, who gave him the right to speak like that with Madonna, did he ever worked that hard in his life as she did in order to be there she is, and do what she does. I hate this kind of “jumpers” who are not good enough and interesting in their own life that is why they keep talking bad about other people who really earned the respect of public for the hard work and efforts they were doing on the daily basis. I wish nowadays in our huge world there were more people like Madonna and less than Piers Morgan.
Well Kathy Griffin has a really interesting personality, and I always enjoy looking at her shows, I laugh like crazy, though I am the only one in my family who loves those shows, my mom while see me laughing at some jokes and being completely serious during them keeps giving me the look which says, honey I really think I should bring you to the doctor in order to see if you are ok. Kathy is original ,she is not like anyone I know, and I do enjoy watching her shows, but that is really true that she is overreacting lately, and I guess it is the time for her to knock it off, as getting undressed is already a bit too much.
Personally I think that Joan Rivers really deserves being banned from all the worlds possible shows, she doesn’t ever think of what she is talking about, and I really hate that, I strongly dislike, when people are acting this way, when they believe they can and have the right to speak about other people in a rude way. I don’t like many people who are surrounding me as well, and for some of them I have pretty good reasons, but it doesn’t matter I should stand and start talking crap about them, like for example not a long time ago I read an article which was telling how mean she was to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s baby, she called a few month old baby North ugly, the most ugly child she has ever seen, so how mean should a person be in order to same something disgusting like that.
