Celebrities that were arrested for DUI

David Cassidy received his sentence for his latest DUI offense on March 24. He has been ordered to enter rehab for three months and must also be on probation for five years. But despite the fact that drinking and driving is extremely dangerous, Cassidy is not the only celeb who has been arrested for DUI. Here are some other famous offenders.

Kiefer Sutherland








The 24 star was arrested on Sept. 25, 2007 in Glendale, California. The complaint alleged he was driving under the influence of alcohol and an unspecified drug. Taking into account that he had also been on probation for another drunk driving violation in 2004, Los Angeles prosecutor asked the court that he be sentenced to 18 days in jail in addition to 30 days for the current charge. Sutherland pleaded no contest to having a blood alcohol level above the legal limit and served his 48-day sentence in the Los Angeles County jail.

Tim Allen








The comedian and actor was arrested for DUI in 1997 after racing is Ferrari down the street. He was pulled over in Birmingham, Michigan, and was recorded as having a 0.15 percent blood-alcohol content. Allen was fined and ordered on to probation and into counseling.

Shannen Doherty








In 2001 this former Beverly Hills 90210 and former Charmed TV show actress was arrested for DUI. Shannen pleaded “no contest” and spoke out on the dangers of drunken driving. Her good behavior got here a sentence of 5 days of community service.

Jean-Claude Van Damme








This action superstar was arrested in 1999 for drunk driving. He did not fight his way out of the charges, but instead accepted the punishment of three years’ probation, a $1,200 fine, 90 day loss of license and mandatory participation in a 90 day anti-drunk driving class.

Nicole Richie








In 2006 Richie was witnessed driving the wrong way on the 134 Freeway and when she was pulled over was found to be under the influence of Vicodin and Marijuana. She was sentenced to serve four days in jail, fined $2,048, was ordered back to school for an alcohol education course and got three years’ probation.

Vivica A. Fox








In March of 2007 the actress was pulled over for speeding and ended up being found to have over the legal limit of alcohol in her system. She was stopped in the San Fernando Valley after her Cadillac Escalade passed a California Highway Patrol car. Fox pleaded no contest to DUI and was sentenced to three years’ probation. Judge also ordered the Kill Bill star to complete a 90-day alcohol education program and fined her more than $400. “I won’t ever make that mistake again,” the actress told reporters later that year. “Trust me, I’m going to hire a driver next time.”

Mel Gibson








After being pulled over for speeding on July 28, 2006, Mel failed his sobriety tests and apparently began making a slew of anti-Semitic comments. He ended up with a sentence of three years’ probation, 90-day alcohol-abuse program, 12 months of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and fined $1,300 with a 90-day license restriction. Gibson volunteered to do public-service announcements on the hazards of drinking and driving, and to enter rehab.

Paris Hilton








On September 8, 2006 Paris Hilton was pulled over for erratic driving and subsequently charged with DUI. She received a sentence of three years’ probation, requirement to attend an alcohol abuse awareness program, pay fines, and her license was suspended. This wasn’t the end of things for Paris, however. Later she was pulled over driving on the suspended license and went to court for probation violation and was given 45 days in jail. Then she was released after a few days, citing medical issues, only to be put back in. In the end Paris served 23 days in jail.

Lindsay Lohan








Lindsay has quite a criminal record. Even though she is an actress, LiLo is more famous for her DUI arrests and rehab stints. In 2007 she was arrested for DUI twice, went to rehab three times and spent 84 minutes in jail. In 2010 Lohan violated the terms of her probation and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days of rehab. However, she served only 14 days of her jail sentence, and only 23 days of her (fourth) rehab program. After failing a drug test later that year, the actress stayed at the Betty Ford Center for three months. In June 2012 Lindsay was involved in a car accident with an 18-wheeler and was suspected of removing something from the car and lying to the police about who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. She was later charged with lying to police, obstructing an officer, and reckless driving and accepted a ninety day rehab stay in exchange for no jail time.

Chris Pine








Earlier this month Chris Pine was pulled over by the police in New Zealand after leaving a party. His blood-alcohol level was 0.11 percent, which is over New Zealand’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. Pine admitted he had had four vodkas and was fined $93 New Zealand dollars ($79) and had his New Zealand driver’s license suspended for six months.

    Interesting to see how people, whom you consider idols and admire so much due to their incredible work on screen and great change to portray the character are fare form being perfect in every day life. They are even worse then we could have thought of them. These people are weak in front of alcohol and forbidden substances. Maybe this is I their gentle soul organization telling them to go on additional ‘fun’ stuff, you never know…maybe just too much money and fame they cannot deal with.
