Planning a wedding can be very stressful. On the other hand, you can always choose a more spontaneous option and go to Vegas. About 120,000 people tie the knot in Las Vegas every year, so it’s not surprising that some celebs are among those couples. Check out the stars who got married in the Sin City.
Britney Spears and Jason Alexander
This is probably one of the most infamous Vegas weddings. The “Toxic” singer’s first marriage lasted a whopping 55 hours! She and childhood buddy Jason Alexander said “I do” at 5:30 a.m. on January 3, 2004, after a night of partying. The marriage was quickly annulled.
Natalie Maines and Adrian Pasdar
The Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines actually met actor Adrian Pasdar at fellow Dixie Chicks member Emily Erwin’s wedding in 1999. After playing a show in Las Vegas in 2000, Maines married Pasdar at the Little White Wedding Chapel on the strip. Afterwards, they spent the night gambling with Erwin and their fellow band mate Martie Seidel.
Cher and Gregg Allman
Cher filed for divorce just nine days after their June 30, 1975, wedding but withdrew her petition a month later. Within two years she filed again – this time for good.
Leah Remini and Angelo Pagan
Leah Remini tied the knot with her boyfriend of six years, actor/salsa musician Angelo Pagan, poolside at the Four Seasons Las Vegas in 2003. The service was performed by a minister from Remini’s Scientology center, and the wedding was televised in a VH1 special.
Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thorton
Before she was saving the world and adopting kids, and before she nabbed Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie was a weird chick married to Billy Bob Thorton. The two went heavy on tattoos and wore vile of each other’s blood, and it all started after getting hitched in Las Vegas on May 5, 2000.
Michael Caine and Shakira Baksh
Michael Caine fell in love with Indian model Shakira Baksh after seeing her in a Maxwell House commercial. They married at the Little Chapel on the Green in 1973 while Baksh was pregnant with their daughter. They are still together.
Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman
Basketball player Dennis Rodman and Baywatch babe Carmen Electra tied the knot at the Little Chapel of Flowers in Vegas in 1998, but after mutual domestic disturbance arrests, the two were divorced just a year later.
Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford
Over the years, many rumors have popped up surrounding Richard Gere’s love life, but it’s no rumor that he was married to one of the most beautiful women in the world back in 1991. He and Cindy Crawford had a four year run that started in Vegas. The both have since remarried.
Moore and Willis married in Las Vegas on November 21, 1987. The couple has three daughters together: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. Although Willis and Moore split in 2000, the two are still very close and share custody of their children. Willis was even in attendance for Moore’s wedding to actor Ashton Kutcher.
Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon
In 2007, while working as a magician’s assistant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Pamela Anderson dashed out after her 7 pm show to marry longtime friend Rick Salomon at the Mirage Hotel and returned for her 10 pm curtain call! After several falling outs and reconcilements, the marriage was officially annulled in 2008.
All My Children co-stars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos made things official in Vegas back in 1996 and have been going strong ever since. They have three kids together and have collaborated on various work projects from hosting together to working as a producing team.
Well, I believe that Las Vegas does a great job with these marriages. For some people this is a joke, a drunk party, but for some a great way out to make their dreams come true. I like Vegas and I like everything it has to offer to people. You just need to choose what you need and what is for you or not. Las Vegas has it all! Eve celebrities choose Vegas weddings, this speaks for itself!
Yay, I will get married within the next two weeks and plan to do it just like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, I guess getting married in Las Vegas is so romantic, and at the same time mischievous and ‘dirty’. I cannot wait till that day and hopefully my marriage that will start so well, will finish with my last breath. I feel very sorry for Demi, first her marriage with Bruce didn’t work out, and I was very sad about it as they seem to be such a happy and wonderful couple, they were truly made for each other, and later she had such a sad experience with Ashton, that made her really skinny, hopefully she will meet a great guy who will support her, and with whose love and tenderness her poor heart will be healed.
Well, personally I vote for the marriages in Vegas, as if two people decided to link their hearts forever, than it should be done in the fastest possible way, though from the other side I guess it is also tricky, as it might be a not properly discussed decision which will end with breakup. So there are pluses and minuses, anyway, everything that is done carefully is for the better.
