Celebrities who quit Twitter

The power of social media is constantly growing and today even political figures have their own accounts on these web sites. As we have seen, Twitter can be quite addicting but at the same time tricky for many celebrities. That’s why some of them stopped using it. But quitting is not always permanent as certain stars eventually changed their minds and started tweeting again. Here are some famous Twitter quitters.

Alec Baldwin

The hot tempered actor has quit Twitter on a handful of occasions. In June, he fired off angry tweets after a British reporter accused his wife, Hilaria Thomas, of tweeting during James Gandolfini’s funeral. After the incident, the actor decided to delete his account. He told Vanity Fair: “I really learned a lesson at the funeral. I said to myself, This is all a waste of time. Meaning it’s fun sometimes, but less and less, and less. It’s just another chink in your armor for people to come and kill you. I stopped and said to myself, I’m going to try where I just don’t do this anymore.”

Kanye West

In May, Kanye deleted his entire Twitter feed except for a tweet announcing the release date of his Yeezus album. He continues to use the account for album promotions.

Miley Cyrus

Miley was convinced by her then-fiancé Liam Hemsworth to quit Twitter in November 2009, writing, “FYI Liam doesn’t have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason.” Miley returned a year and a half later, but in March she threatened to leave once again after being plagued by Liam breakup rumors.

Ashton Kutcher

The actor announced he would no longer be running his Twitter account in November 2011 after he received flak for a controversial Joe Paterno comment. But he didn’t quit; instead, Kutcher hired someone that would advise all of his Twitter issues and tweets after some bad publicity from a tweet that he had sent.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato took a break from Twitter in January 2012 after receiving hate tweets. Although she did return, Demi quit Twitter in January 2013 again after ranting about trust issues but returned a few months later.

James Franco

Two months after he started his account, he deactivated it. But it wasn’t long before he came up with a new name and has been happily tweeting ever since.

Megan Fox

Megan joined Twitter in January but said she was quitting after only a week. She tweeted, “5 days on Twitter and I have yet to discern its purpose.”

Zac Efron

In April 2009, Zac Efron said he was staying away from social networking sites, including Twitter, because of privacy reasons, but in February 2012 he and a team began tweeting on his account.

Social networks is a great loss! People spend so much tine in front of the screen, showing off their pictures and commenting on their life events, boasting, complaining, sharing news, etc. What ahs happened t the face-to-face communication? It is given a second role after the great rise of social networks and dating sites industry. I won’t be surprised if people will make babies by the computes soon. LOL. People, look around, you make your private information a public property. Why everyone should know what is on your mind, what mood are you in today, besides your friends and family. Public people should also keep their private life private! It is impossible to love everyone and be good to everyone; at last, we are not green banknotes to be loved by everyone on earth!
