Chris Pine has pleaded guilty to drink-driving in a New Zealand court today.

The 33-year-old actor appeared at a court hearing in Ashburton following his arrest on March 1. Judge Joanna Maze, who said she was “obliged to treat offenders alike”, fined him $93 New Zealand dollars ($79) and had his New Zealand driver’s license suspended for six months.

The Hollywood star was pulled over by the police in the early hours of March 1, after he was leaving a party to celebrate the end of filming the movie Z for Zachariah.

Police told the court that a blood test found Pine’s blood-alcohol level was 0.11 percent, which is over New Zealand’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Pine admitted he had had four vodkas, the police prosecutor told the court. Marilyn Gilchrist, the actor’s lawyer, asked the judge for a discharge without conviction, but this was denied.

The law works for everyone even celebrities. The idea is that Chris Pine didn’t lose much of his finance and can use his driver for the next half of the year. I think this was ant a big fine and not a great inconvenience for him. I am not sure if this will teach him a lesson and not break the drinking limitations in future.
