Connie Britton has been named a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Program.
This program was created to fight the problem of poverty and Connie, who says that appointment as goodwill ambassador is “one of the greatest opportunities of my life,” will focus on women’s issues.
“In my own travels, I’ve seen many places where people are living in extreme poverty. It’s unacceptable that, in 2014, one billion people live in such conditions, and a full sixty percent of the chronically hungry in the world are women,” the actress said. “I look forward to working with UNDP to help change this and improve the lives of vulnerable people worldwide.”
“A lot of the work I have done has been around that, particularly focusing on women’s issues. To me working with the U.N. feels like it will be a really effective way to try to solve some problems, so I’m excited,” she added.
Lol! Omg, when Ifirst glanced at this article, i thought it said “Connie Britton named ungoodwill ambassador”. I thought, what horrible thing has she done to be called an “ungoodwill Ambassador”. Lol.
What qualifications does an actor have to be a UN ambassador? Should we start allowing court reporters to perform heart surgery?
