Until yesterday (August 6), it’s been kept a secret that Dustin Hoffman is battling cancer. The actor didn’t want to share the news with the public before the surgery. His representative Jodi Gottlieb spoke to People Magazine and informed us of his illness and treatment.
“It was detected early and he has been surgically cured,” she told the magazine, failing to reveal how long exactly it had been since Dustin was told that he was suffering from cancer. She also added, “Dustin is feeling great and is in good health.”
Gottlieb went on to say that the 75-year-old star will undergo further surgery later this year, saying that doctors have recommended that Hoffman undergo a preventative surgical procedure to help minimize the threat of a recurrence of cancerous cells. However, she didn’t want to reveal any other details concerning his battle with cancer.
Dustin is scheduled to begin filming Esio Trot in the fall.
