Eva Longoria has joined forces with Democratic National Committee’s finance chairman Henry Munoz to raise money which will help get more Latino political candidates run for office.
Longoria and Munoz worked together to raise millions from Latino donors for President Barack Obama’s re-election in 2012 and now they are focused on helping Latino candidates.
“People keep talking about the power of the Latino vote. But the truth is that 2012 was just the tip of the iceberg,” the actress told The Associated Press on Monday. “We are not tapping into the full potential yet of the Latino community.”
“Everybody gets so energized and excited to vote in the presidential elections, but yet we’re not energized enough to vote for the people who have to work with the president,” Eva added.
“Let’s consider it an investment in the nation. Let’s not refer to us as ‘the sleeping giant’ after the midterms,” Munoz said. “We are the change we have been waiting for.”

The Hispanic vote in 2012 was 8.4% of the total vote. Democrats got 5.4% and republicans got 3.0%. I hope they don’t think the more Hispanics in government the more freebees they will get.
Hispanics don’t assimilate, they are outside of American culture.
