Gwyneth Paltrow is under fire again. This time it has nothing to do with the strict diet plan she imposes on her children, but it does involve kids. Child protection advocates are criticizing her for showing pictures of a little girl wearing bikinis on her lifestyle website Goop.com.
These two-piece swimwear creations, designed by Melissa Odabash, which are described as “great for girls who want to look grown up”, have caused outrage among child protection activists. They say that these pictures are dangerous because they sexualize children.
Claude Knight of Kidscape, a British foundation set up to prevent child abuse, says: “We remain very opposed to the sexualization of children and of childhood. The dangers have been discussed at length, so it is a great pity that such trends continue and that they carry celebrity endorsement.”
Gwyneth is being criticized a lot lately but her representative branded the criticism “absurd” adding “two-piece bathing suits have been worn by young girls for decades.” The 40-year-old actress was voted the most hated celebrity in Hollywood in Star magazine’s annual poll and this new controversy will not help her get rid of that status.
