Hollywood’s shortest actors

At a humble 5’7”, Tom Cruise is one of the biggest stars in the world and a great actor with an outstanding career. From Rain Man to Mission: Impossible franchise, there isn’t a genre in which he hasn’t delivered a captivating performance. And isn’t the exception in Hollywood. The fact is many other male actors are short. Let’s look at some of the most successful and influential actors and under 5’9″.

Daniel Radcliffe

Harry Potter star stands at 5’5” and he is fine with that. He said: “I was worried on a personal level because I wanted to be slightly taller than I am, ideally. But I’ve now accepted it. Basically, I came to the conclusion a while ago that you can either be really bitter about it or you can make loads of funny jokes. When I meet people now and they all say, ‘God you’re so much shorter than I expected!’ I always say, ‘No! I’m actually slightly further away than you think’, which confuses them.”

Elijah Wood

At 5’6” Wood made a name for himself at a young age when he appeared (briefly) in Back to the Future Part II. Shortly thereafter, he established himself as an emotional, versatile actor through his roles in Radio Flyer, The Good Son, and The War. In 2001, when he was 20 years old, he catapulted to super-stardom after portraying the lovable Frodo in the first installment of what would become one of the most epic film trilogies of all time. So, his height worked in his favor – who else would play a hobbit so convincingly?

Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox is 5’4” tall and thanks to his baby-face look was able to play adolescents and teenagers well into his twenties. He also became a producer, activist and philanthropist despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease more than two decades ago. These days, Michael puts a lot of energy in to his foundation for Parkinson’s research and his new TV show – Michael J. Fox Show.

Richard Dreyfuss

Some people love him for Jaws, some respect him for Mr. Holland’s Opus, and others simply love What About Bob. Regardless, most of us generally agree that Richard Dreyfuss is an outstanding actor. At 5’5″ he is one of the shortest actors on our list. This didn’t stop him from winning an Oscar for Best Actor, along with a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award. Dreyfuss is also a political activist, public speaker, author and academic.

Javier Bardem

63eme Festival international du film de Cannes. Cloture. Photocall des palmes. Lib. de Rosa

The sexy Spaniard has won an Oscar. He sleeps with Penelope Cruz every night. He is one of the greatest Bond villains ever. And he is 5’7” tall man with larger-than-life charisma and great talent.

Danny DeVito

DeVito is an accomplished actor and director. He uses his 5′ frame to his advantage in many of his roles. “On a really good day, I’m five feet short. It’s pretty difficult for me to play anything but the little guy. I don’t play a good victim so I’m always the nasty little guy,” he said.

Dustin Hoffman

Dustin Hoffman

This two-time Oscar winner is only 5’5” tall and has been one of the most popular actors with a career in film, television, and theater since 1960. In Junior High he was known for being one of the shortest students in school and even got the part of Tiny Tim in the school play.

Al Pacino

At 5’7″ Al Pacino has played some of the most hardcore characters in some of the most dramatic films ever made. He grew up in a broken family in the bad part of NYC. He was drinking and smoking at a very young age, and he apparently didn’t shy away from a fight. He dropped out of high school at age 17 and worked odd jobs to finance his acting lessons. So, even as a little kid in the ghetto, he didn’t let his size hold him back.

Well, here is not where the size matters, but the talent and a magnetic and charismatic personality!!! I love most of the actors, whose names are enumerated in the present article. Besides, it is quite easy not guess their exact height on screen.
