Idris Elba wanted to show ‘real’ Mandela

idris-elba-mandela-long-walk-to-freedom_3983678 Speaking to French website AlloCiné, Idris Elba discussed his role of Nelson Mandela in new biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Elba says his main goal was to portray the late South African leader as a real person.

”He’s a huge worldwide citizen, ” the actor says. ”Everyone knows what he looks like, what he sounds like. I realized that he has a massive aura. We would always see Mandela on the TV, on the news, but we would never know his aura, it was so big. I never met him, but everyone talks about how he walked into a room and you would feel special when you met him. He was also very funny and was always making people smile, which is very funny because he seems so serious.

”It’s kind of interesting to know that he liked to joke, he’s a human. He had his flaws, he had his moments. We wanted to make him real.”

It is a challenging task to show Mandela the way he used to be. This man is really a worldwide citizen with a huge aura that people, who were lucky to meet him on their way would feel and sense with every cell of their bodies, heart, minds and souls. I like Idris Eba and I am sure he copes with the task of showing the real Mandela in the upcoming movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. I already look forward for this movie to the big screens, but I know it s to early for that.
