Writing an op-ed piece for the New York Times, which was published on Wednesday (February 19), James Franco tried to explain the reasons behind Shia LaBeouf‘s recent bizarre behavior.
Titled “Why Actors Act Out,” the piece offers some sort of analysis of the Transformers star’s conduct in the past few months. Franco takes an “empathetic view” of Shia’s behavior and speculates that it might be due to “a nervous breakdown.”
“Though the wisdom of some of his actions may seem questionable, as an actor and artist I’m inclined to take an empathetic view of his conduct,” he wrote.
Franco then recaps LaBeouf’s recent odd behavior which includes, being accused of plagiarism, storming out of a press conference in Berlin, and wearing paper bag over his head with the words “I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE” written across it.
“This behavior,” Franco continues, “could be a sign of many things, from a nervous breakdown to mere youthful recklessness. For Mr. LaBeouf’s sake I hope it is nothing serious.”
Franco concluded his article by stating: “I think Mr. LaBeouf’s project, if it is a project, is a worthy one. I just hope that he is careful not to use up all the good will he has gained as an actor in order to show us that he is an artist.”
Thanks for the nice comment as to Shia LaBeuf’s beahavior. I bet only he himself know what really a sit, if he really does.) I think e is a normal guy, he just like surprising people but awkward behavior and get out of the grey crowd. He enjoys shocking people and observe them and their reaction (that was hard from inside the bag though). When I saw the pictures the only thing that was in my mind is for him not to suffocate. Or maybe it was a protection from showing pimples? LOL. Well, I know that Shia just likes to show off. He succeed this time again.)
