In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, John Travolta recalled dancing with late Princess Diana at the White House gala dinner in 1985, saying he was her ”Prince Charming” that night.
He said: ”There really was something lovely and girlish about her and I felt that I had taken her back to her childhood when she had probably watched Grease – and for that moment I was her Prince Charming.”
Travolta insists he wasn’t nervous while dancing with the Princess of Wales.
”I’d seen her dance with Prince Charles beforehand so I knew that she was strong,” the actor says.
”But she looked like she was leading him and because I knew that the world was watching I thought that I really needed to give her certainty that I knew what to do. I put my hand in the middle of her back, brought her hand down so that it wouldn’t be so high and gave her the confidence that we would do just fine.
”She was the real deal. And I think that was partly because she followed the rule that ‘it’s OK to be important as long as everyone else is equally important.”
Such a beautiful article! Such great recollections of the talented and handsome man about the first lady of Great Britain! Princess Diana was full of life , beautiful and righteous princess and woman. She left this life so young, but always had zest for it. It was very pleasant to read John Travolta’s emotions about the gala evening when he was Princess Diana’s Prince Charming. The picture is just awesome and I as if was there with them that night. This is simply magic. Thank you John, for such a detailed description!
