Celebrity engagements always get lots of media attention for many reasons. First of all, they are all about famous people, and then there is the fact that things are bound to be over-the-top (proposal, insanely expensive ring, lavish wedding and so on). 2014 has just started but there are already couples set to head down the aisle this year. Here they are.
Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg
News broke in early 2014 that Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg are reported to have gotten engaged. So far, the couple has not confirmed or denied the rumors, but the Once Upon a Time star stepped out with a big ol’ rock on her ring finger on January 10! She also posted this potentially illuminating message on her website on December 28, 2013: “Hello everyone! I’m sorry for slacking! Crazy, beautiful things went down over the holidays and of course quality time with the family was long overdue.”
Ashlee Simpson got engaged to Evan Ross following a Hawaiian holiday. Ashley, who was first pictured with the actor on the red carpet in July, also tweeted a picture of her huge, vintage-inspired rock a she announced the news. Whilst their engagement might seem swift (even for Hollywood), the pair have actually been friends for years, and Ashlee reportedly spent Christmas with the Ross clan.
On January 6, 2014, rumors began circulating that American Horror Story co-stars Emma Roberts and Evan Peters were getting ready for a walk down the aisle. Apparently Evan popped the question with a pink gold diamond ring over the break. The pair have had their ups and downs over the years. In July 2013, they a fight which left Evan with a bloodied nose and bite marks, and Emma with bruised legs. “It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding…Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it,” her rep said at the time.
Whitney Port and Tim Rosenman
The Hills girls all seem to be settling down and getting married. Just a month after Lauren Conrad confirmed she was planning to tie the knot, Whitney Port announced that she was marrying Tim Rosenman. The pair met on the set of The City, where Tim was associate producer.
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester are rumoured to be engaged! “They have talked about getting married eventually. But she had no idea he would propose so soon! It was the surprise of her life and she’s ecstatic!” a source revealed. We’ll just have to wait to see if the rumours are true.
Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas
Once Upon A Time stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas seem to have got their fairytale ending, after confirming that they are engaged, following an 18-month romance. “We are so thrilled to announce our engagement and can’t wait to celebrate with our friends and family, including our second family at Once Upon a Time,” they said in a statement. No wedding date is set yet.
On January 14, Amber Heard was spotted leaving an LA restaurant and wearing a diamond ring on her left hand, which sparked the rumors that she and Johnny Depp are engaged. Even though the two haven’t confirmed the news yet, People magazine reports that the stars are set to tie the knot in the near future. A source, close to the couple, said: “Of course they couldn’t be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together. Amber has really taken well to the kids and really enjoys spending time with them. And she’s even taken Lily shopping on her own for some bonding time.”
