Growing up in Los Angeles, Leonardo DiCaprio quickly learned that people are often too self-centered and make bad choices. He feels lucky for being able to do the job he loves and is determined not to get carried away with money and fame.
He said : ”I grew up in Los Angeles, I was born in Hollywood, so I’ve seen firsthand the destructive nature of that town and how people are intoxicated by their own self-importance and surrounded by temptation on a daily basis.
”I wouldn’t say it was a dangerous place but there’s all sorts of choices in life and I’ve always tried to focus on one thing. No matter how much talent you have you have to be in the right place in the right time. I understand that I’m lucky to be given this amazing opportunity, it’s what I’ve always wanted to do so I’m not going to waste it.”
DiCaprio has never won an Oscar and he admits he dreams of winning the prestigious award one day.
”Anyone is a liar if they say they don’t want a reward or good reviews for their performance. But I’ve come to realize you have absolutely no control over what people think of your film, and they can tell you something to your face and then you realize they must have voted differently,” he said.
I respect DiCaprio for such words. Yes, he is right it is not only about how talented you are and how good you are in life; it is also about being at the right time in the right place. I respect him not getting too self-centered being so popular, rich and desired by so many girls of the world. I am happy Leonardo managed to keep wet we call humane nature in people and understand that many people in LA are fakes and do everything to gain more fame an money and it cost them nothing to step on your throat to get what they need. There is a great decay in moral values these days in the states, we all know this and we all remain silent.
