More than a year after the big scandal, Liberty Ross finally broke the silence about the affair her husband Rupert Sanders had with Kristen Stewart.

Ross was interviewed for the December issue of Vanity Fair and she talked about what she went through after photos of Stewart and Sanders kissing surfaced in July 2012.

“It was horrible. It was really the worst,” Liberty said. “I have no words to describe what we went through. But I think, for me, something always has to completely die for there to be a rebirth. And I feel like I’m going through a rebirth.”

Her brother Atticus helped her get away from the media frenzy by providing Liberty and her children a place to stay with his friend. “I was able to be there completely secluded,” Ross said. “I was just going to stand very still and very strong, and just let it all roll past me.”

At some point Sanders even wrote a public apology to Liberty, hoping to save his marriage, but it was too late. “I’m not a quitter, I’ve done everything I could to be the perfect wife and mother and really support my husband. But I just didn’t have any more to give, you know,” the 35 year-old model said.
