Male stars with hair transplants

Statistics say that more than 35 million men in the United States suffer from some form of hair loss and celebrities are not immune to this problem either. The issue can be treated in various ways but, among stars, the most favored procedure is hair transplantation. Here’s a list of famous men who have had hair transplants.

John Travolta has many secrets and hair transplantation is just one of them. He has been suffered from thinning hair for years, rumored to have counted on hairpieces to make him appear younger. He used to change his image by shaving his head, and eventually went for a hair transplant when he remained dissatisfied with his appearance.

Mel Gibson had been a big box office draw for decades. He was People’s sexiest man alive in 1985, and made their 50 most beautiful people list many times. Although he has not gone public about his hair transplantation, in around 2006, his hairline, which had been receding, crept forward again, and the thinning hair on top became thick and lush. Inside sources have confirmed his HT, and said he’s very pleased with his new look.

Matthew McConaughey

This star is surely one of the sexiest in the world. And believe it or not, he did face hair loss problems. The Texas native has been rumored to have had hair plugs, otherwise known as FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction, a surgical procedure where ‘plugs’ of hair are extracted from the back of the scalp and transplanted onto the areas of hair loss atop the scalp. This is the most common form of hair transplant, as unlike strip surgery, where a strip of skin is removed from the back of the head, it leaves no scarring. However, the actor revealed to Elle magazine that he has in fact been using a hair loss treatment to get his hair back. The actor also had some other interesting advice. He said: “If you want your hair to be thicker, cut it when the moon is about to be full – a heavy, full, waxing moon.”

Kevin Costner

Known for his movie star good looks, Costner has always had a thin head of hair. His hair transplant story erupted in 2006 when the actor appeared out of nowhere with a much fuller head of hair. It is suspected the hair transplant took place sometime between late 2006 and early 2007. The surgery has restored much of his lost hair and given him a natural looking hair line.  Like many other male celebrities who have had hair transplant surgery, he was somewhat conservative and achieved a very natural looking result.

This charming Irish actor has gone from curly-haired Adam in Cold Feet to a hard-boiled detective in Murphy’s Law. His hair loss had played out in the public eye, and he’s always been honest about his hair transplant. He’s even made a promotional film for the Dublin clinic where he had the work done. He’s been quoted as saying that his hair restoration has changed his life, crediting it for a lift he’s experienced in his career post HT.

Jason Donovan

Australian actor and singer, Jason Donovan, told Piers Morgan during an interview that he has had a hair transplant. He has said that he is really happy with the results. In 2012 he told Mail Online: “I did have a small procedure four years ago and am really happy with the results. It’s something I did for just for myself and haven’t ever felt the need to publicize it. If women can have breast implants then why can’t men have hair implants? I have had it done. I started losing my hair when I was 23. It’s all about confidence and feeling good about yourself. If that is what you want to do, then do it.”

Thanks to the evolution of medicine and new technologies. Many men allover the world suffer with hair loss. Some look great being bold and for some it is just not their cup of tea. Hair transplantation made it easy for many people to reach the results they wanted to look younger, more handsome and feel confident about themselves. Why not? I like the results in all the cases. Progress, thanks a lot!))
