Rumors about Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s split have been circulating for months and, even though the couple have shut down these speculations, new reports say that they are set to divorce after all.

“They have been living apart for a while. This is not all of a sudden. There have been issues between them for a while. They are not getting along,” a source close to Carey E! News.

“She wants to end it and it has been in the works for months, which is why her house in the Bahamas and the house in Bel Air are on the market.”

Mariah is said to be skeptic about her husband’s fidelity. PageSix.com reports that she even hired a security guard to watch him at the pool parties he hosted in Las Vegas earlier this year.

An insider said: ”The security guard wasn’t there to keep the girls away from him. It was to keep him away from the girls.”

According to In Touch Weekly, Carey has already spoken with divorce lawyers.

”Mariah has had several closed door meetings with divorce lawyers”, a source said. ”But Nick’s being more passive. He’s less inclined to pull the trigger, perhaps because of the kids. He’ll definitely wait for Mariah to file for divorce, but he won’t go down without a fight. He wants a chunk of her $500 million fortune.”
