Speaking for the UK’s Hello! Magazine, Michael Douglas has revealed that he is worried about how his marriage troubles might affect his children.
Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones are taking a ”break” from their marriage and the actor is concerned that the headlines and reports about the split might upset his kids – Dylan, 13 and Carys, 10.
He said: ”I went out with them the other day and, you know, you can see some headlines in newspapers and magazines that might be upsetting and so as a sort of back-up, I said to them, ‘Okay, kids, now you might be seeing some things written down about your mother and me that will be wrong and infamous and you just have to know that these things are not always true’. Dylan just looked at me and said, ‘Huh – you mean like when I read that you were going to die in three weeks? I said, ‘Yeah – like that.’ ”
Michael wants to spend as much time as possible with his children and is planning a trip to Rome. ”We all plan to do some travelling together next year. My son is very interested in Roman history and desperate to go to Rome, so we’re going to take a trip together, which I’m very much looking forward to,” he added.
Michael Douglas is a great and thoughtful father. I like him as an actor and as a person. He has a very beautiful wife. I still hope they make peace with Katherine. They look perfect together. Well, hope dies last. I hope they remain a great family. I like the fact Michael is dedicated to his family and kids as and works for the benefit of all of them. And I am happy he likes talking to his kids and negotiating, for them to feel emotionally secure and not worry. Just perfect!
