Naomi Watts reveals regrets about playing Diana

Naomi-Watts

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Naomi Watts opened up about the box office failure of Diana, Princess of Wales.

After receiving mixed reviews for her portrayal of the late Princess, Naomi admits that she has some regrets about taking on the role and compares the film to a “sinking ship”.

She said: “I got seduced by the fantastic character. Diana did a lot of things that had positive and negative results. She was multifaceted… But ultimately there were problems with the film and it ended up taking a direction that was not the one I was hoping for. With risk there is every chance it’s going to fail. If you have to go down with that sinking ship, so be it.”

The biopic, which was directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and covers the last two years of Princess Diana’s life, made less than $65,000 in the United States in its opening weekend.

I think Naomi did a fairly good job, and she didn’t write it. The storyline that should have been used was the one in the book, Diana and Dodi, The Fairytale, I found it on Amazon, and also found that her sons William and Harry thanked the author for the book. I am assuming the reason for the royal thank you, is because they understood their mothers relationship with Dodi. The film was all wrong, it was a flop because they wrote about a lover of Diana’s that no one really knew about. Buy the book, it’s a good read.

She took this role for MONEY!!!! This was like a very tacky Lifetime Thursday night TV Movie in the U.S. (like when Lindsay Lohan played Elizabeth Taylor). Leave Diana alone and let her RIP. Enough of the books and horrible movies.

Well of course she regrets about playing Diana’s role! I mean how she could! I think there are roles that are supposed to think ten times before being accepted. And the role of Princess Diana is exactly the role that is supposed to being considered properly. Mainly due to the fact that Diana was a very kind woman who had to suffer a lot due to all the bad things that were done to her by the royal dynasty. All of her life Diana was doing charity and tried to improve someone’s life, though she knew that it is something that she will never be able to do for herself, as if you are a part of the royal family, than whether you want it or not there are some rules that you cannot break, and if you will try than it is more likely they will break you. And this is exactly what has happened with Lady D she was too good for the people who were surrounding her, and her husband or friends were not able to help her in the case when she needed it most of all. Her death indeed was a tragedy for the entire country and at least half of the world.

I guess in order to perform Lady Diana’s role, the actress is supposed to have same features of character as her hero. I mean such features as kindness and the ability mixed with the strong desire to help other people. you can sit and talk hours about Princess Diana, as she done so many things for people that probably no one else ever did. And it is nice especially considering the fact she was never forced to do it, but it was her proper initiative. Many years have passed since the day when she died, but there is no one in the British Kingdom who ever did same amount of good things as her, and I am sure there will be no such a person, as it is something that is supposed to come from heart and soul, and not because it is a requirement. Lady D – it is the sweet name given to the lovely Princess was not up to royal requirements, she followed only the requirements of her conscience and soul, so indeed she was a great woman, I would even say a legend.

I clearly remember the day when Princess Diana has died. Gosh, it was a hard time not only for the people in Great Britain, but also for the people in the entire world. Everyone was suffering, though the biggest majority of people never even knew her, but they all kept being in deep sorrow because Lady D has become famous due to the good things she was doing for people who desperately needed her and her help. For a woman who is a part of Royal Family, it really is something worth respect. So eventually when Naomi Watts was accepting to perform the role, she was supposed to think carefully and know all the pluses and minuses. The plus was that she could walk up being one of the most successful actresses, and the minus that she could wake up being the actress who screw up the image of a almost saint woman in front of the entire world. Unfortunately, Naomi has become a part of the second option.
