Former Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight married his long-term boyfriend Patrick.

The intimate ceremony took place on Friday October 4. Only close friends and family members attended the wedding. In attendance was his former Grey’s costar Katherine Heigl, who reportedly flew in for the occasion.

“It was very small and quiet,” an insider reveals to Usmagazine.com.

The 40-year-old actor is currently starring as Mercutio in a production of Romeo & Juliet in New York City and although his co-stars were unable to attend the ceremony they congratulated him on the happy occasion. “The cast wishes they could go too, but they all congratulated him,” the source adds.

Heigl tweeted about attending a wedding in upstate New York: “Having the time of my life at said wedding with @katewalsh [husband] @joshkelley Kate’s amazing fella Chris & my girl Chey!”

Knight first came out as gay in a statement in 2006. He said: ”I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I’d like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there. While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I’m gay isn’t the most interesting part of me.”
