Texas born movie stars

Texas is a state well-known for oil, cowboys and wide-open spaces, but also for creativity. Therefore, it is not surprising that Texas is a state that has given the world some of the greatest movie stars of our time. Actually, six Academy Award winners were born in Texas. There are quite a few actors and actresses who call Texas home, and here we present you some of the best.

Tommy Lee Jones

Born in San Saba, Tommy Lee Jones has won a Golden Globe (Coal Miner’s Daughter), an Emmy (Executioner’s Song) and an Academy Award (The Fugitive). Fluent in Spanish, Jones maintains a ranch in Texas and often plays laconic cowboys like Woodrow Call in the 1989 television miniseries adaptation of the Larry McMurty novel, “Lonesome Dove.”

He was born as Eric Marlon Bishop in Terrell. Foxx has played some fantastic roles since bursting into the national spotlight in the Fox comedy series In Living Color. That role won him an Oscar for Best Actor. Foxx is also a platinum-selling recording artist.
