The most outrageous celebrity appearance fees

A common way for celebrities to earn money is by charging appearance fees. Businesses that want to attract media attention and clients are happy to pay big bucks to stars just to come to their parties and events. Here are some of the highest celebrity appearance fees.

Jessica Simpson

She’s the face of Weight Watchers, and while her waist is reducing – her paycheck is expanding. Jessica Simpson rakes in $100,000 and more for personal appearances.

Selena Gomez

In 2010, Selena would show up at your event for about 100,000 bucks. But that was then and this is now — and since her star has risen so much lately, you can bet her appearance fee has too.

Paris Hilton

During the peak of her popularity, Paris reportedly charged between $100,000 and $500,000 for showing up at a club. “About five years ago, Paris easily commanded $500-750,000 for nightclub appearances,” a source told Radar Online recently. Her figure has apparently dropped a bit in recent years, but it’s safe to say that it’s good money still.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan has the impressive honor of getting the biggest payday for a single nightclub appearance. Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas paid her $350,000 to celebrate her 21st birthday at the club. Unfortunately, Lindsay never made it  — she was in rehab instead. But 45 days later, she celebrated her release by “soberly” partying at the club.

Charlie Sheen

When Charlie lost his Two and a Half Men gig in 2011, he still found a way to make money: hosting parties. In fact, he was reportedly offered $200,000 for a night of debauchery in Vegas — plus a private jet transport and his hotel room, of course.

Kelly Clarkson

Being the very first American Idol alum (and the most successful one thus far), you would expect Kelly Clarkson to charge more than her fellow Idol mates… And she does! Having Kelly appear at your party will set you back between $300k and $400k.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian’s appearance fee has kept skyrocketing over the years as her fame has risen. She routinely rakes in between$50,000 and $75,000 for an appearance, but she made over $500,000 from various clubs during the week of her 30th birthday.

50 Cent

50 Cent is said to be one of – if not the – richest rapper ever, ranking high in the yearly Forbes earning list. Does that mean he charges charitable prices for fans who want to see him up close and personal? Not so much. Booking 50 Cent will cost you up to $700,000.

Mariah Carey

In 2011, Mariah Carey found herself the subject of controversy when it was revealed she sang four songs at a private part held by the Qaddafi family. Regardless of the moral implications, Carey walked away with $1 million. But this isn’t the only time Mariah has performed for a dictator. Last year she was paid $1 million to perform for authoritarian Angolan President Josè Eduardo Dos Santos.

Jennifer Lopez

A Russian billionaire paid J. Lo $1.2 million to do a 40-minute set at his and his wife’s joint birthday party in 2007. He also spent another $800,000 on travel and accommodations for Lopez, then-husband Marc Anthony, and a massive entourage.

On New Year’s Eve in 2009, Beyoncé pocketed $2 million for singing just five songs at a show in St. Barts. But once she found out her performance had been funded by the son of (now late former) Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, she donated the money to charity. A few years earlier, she was paid $1m to appear at the birthday party of a princess.

Rihanna earned $8 million for simply turning on some Christmas lights at Westfield Shopping Center in London in 2012. “The Christmas light switch-on at Westfield Stratford City is one of the highlights of the festive calendar. … We want to thank our loyal shoppers by giving them something they’ll never forget,” a Westfield rep explained.

  1. Kenny says:

Celebrities are getting what they want! Why ordinary people have to work so hard while these people just get so much money for only their appearance at some evens. Their fame goes before them, this is I true, but, people, lets’ be reasonable what sums of money are getting to them. They are not the Gods and definitely don’t make your life better by only their appearance. Show, sex and entertainment of the kind sell very well these days!
