Ever since Fox announced a TV adaptation of Grease, many have wondered who will star in it and Zac Efron is one of the candidates to play Danny Zuko, the role that made John Travolta a household name.
“That’s an honor,” Zac told E! News, while attending the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie Neighbors.
“Those are big shoes to fill. I think I came as close to it as you could in High School Musical.
“To actually do that?” he continued. “Yeah, those are big shoes.”
John Travolta starred as Danny in the 1978 movie adaptation of the 1971 musical. Olivia Newton-John costarred as Sandy Olsson.
Fox announced Grease Live will air in 2015.
Speaking of the event, Fox’s senior vice president of event series Shana C. Waterman, said: “From Broadway to film, and across generations, Grease is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told — and we can’t wait to bring it to our air in a spectacular live event. Its iconic characters and addictive songs make it the perfect fit for Fox, and we’re going to give it the kind of star power and production quality to make every Sandy, Danny, Rizzo and Kenickie out there want to get up and sing along.”
He’s not going about and asking for all this. He’s getting offers to do roles and they are just asking his opinion about it. As far goes for his love life, we don’t actually know if he dated lily, they really wasn’t an “official” couple dating Halston, both haven’t really confirmed it themselves only through reps.
He might be brilliant, or he might be a flop. But let’s at least give him the chance. He has to compete with of course the original movie, but also the play, and how many times/actors/directors it played on Broadway. There’s more actors in the play/movie, whatever besides him
Zac Efron would be a great 1st choice but if he doesn’t get cast, i hope dat Drew Seeley will..Drew has fantastic singing n dancing chops n he’s acting is quite good too..I can c him executing Danny’s dance moves perfectly.
The best Zac Efron interview in a while. It feels like he is completely honest in this one and I respect that on so many levels. Wishing him the best. He’s harmless and nice. You can say what you want about him, but this proves how everyone makes the mistakes. I’m glad he saw his mistakes and got help.
