What is the movie 12 Years a Slave about?
12 Years a Slave is a story of a man named Solomon Northup. He is a black man who lives in Saratoga, New York with his wife and two children. He earns his living by working as a violinist. He goes on an out of town gig where he gets drugged and sold into slavery in the deep south by a mane named Platt. Solomon decides that it is in his best interest to cooperate if he wants to survive. Solomon is given to new slave owners and during his captivity he a witness to many arts of cruelty, abuse and torture. During his 12 years of being a slave, he meets a Canadian abolitionist (played by Brad Pitt) who will change his life forever. This is one of the best, if not the best, movies centered around a theme of slavery. It is bleak, saddening and gruesome at some moments, all of it makes this movie what it is, a true masterpiece of art. Some scenes might make people uncomfortable, but that's what this movie is hoping to do. To tell a tale of a time not so far away, a time which should never repeat itself but it should also not be forgotten. This movie reminds us all of what is human spirit capable of overcoming. 12 Years a Slave is a stunning movie, it is a must see for anyone who enjoys movies.

I didn’t have enough time to sit and dedicate the movie. I have uploaded it long ago, but always had reasons why not to dedicate it to watching the movie. Finally, yesterday with my husband I sat in a comfortable sofa and enjoyed the two and something hours watching great movie with a wonderful plot based on a true story and a believable actor play. I was hoping Brad Pit would have a greater rile in it, but what his character did for the lead character, was life price. The led character I liked the most, so believable his mimes and gestures where, so wonderful his performance was. I felt great pity for the salves and real hate for the characters that were owners and treated slaves as animal and in many cases even more cruel than that. This is a soul touching movie, you will have tears in yore eyes as you watch it, and it is simply impossible to stay indifferent to this movie. I rate this film 10 out of 10.

This entire movie is full of things that do not have justice at all in them. There is a free person who due to his naive character was kidnapped and sold as a slave. A free and very talented person who had a family of his own, had to face the unexpected difficulties. Children of the slaves knew what they should expect for. While not having the right to vote, freedom, they knew how to live and what future is expecting for them. The main hero was not ready to something like that. All the twelve years that he spent outside his home were full of disappointments and despair. When he decided to trust a person, he had to face a betrayal. When he wants to run away he meets the troop that was sent to punish, and becomes a witness of the execution of the slaves who escaped. When he tried to help a slave woman he was made to kill her. Life is not just, and we know that, we know about difficulties of the fate, but we never expect that it will happen to us. I recommend to everyone. It is a very good movie!

Well what can i say here, it is a very good movie, it is a right one. After watching it, i got surprised with the human patience and power of will. This movie has a lot of soul in it, that is why i advise it to everyone. After watching it i started feeling very sorry for the slaves, of course i knew about those times a long time ago from the history, but i never imagined it to be this way. There was a certain picture in my head, but i never tried to understand how people were living in those times. The main hero in my opinion didn’t showed all the potential that he could show, and Lupita, who got an Oscar, was not very outstanding while showing life of a poor slave. Brad Pitt looked a bit “white and fluffy” while he tried looking so good in his position. As about the rest of people in the movie, well they kept running here and there, in order to convince everyone that slavery is not a good thing at all. And using a person, by another person as a thing, is a sin. Hmm i guess it is not a bad movie, and hopefully it will help people treat everyone around with more respect after watching it.

This is a great movie, me and my husband have watched it a week ago and stayed very happy about it! At first my husband said that probably it is a bit boring one, but thirty minutes later we couldn’t take our eyes from the screen! 12 years a slave is a history drama, whose film director is a very talented person Steve McQuinn. In this movie is shown the biography of Solomon Northup, this movie is about a black person who was caught, drugged and sold as a slave. He is sold to a plantation where his master started to be good to him and gives him a violin because he knows how much he likes the music. there he gets a competitor and because of him he is sold to another slave holder, where he meets a girl who was reaped and upset but he is defending her and so on. As a result in the end he gets freedom and gets back to his family in which was borin his first grandson. He went through twelve years of slavery. So after watching this movie you are surprised with human patience and will.

The movie indeed has won an Oscar! I definitely agree with the critics and audiences! Not only that Brad Pitt and the others produce a wonderful story about a free man that been kidnapped and made a slave for 12 years with a very touching story, but the cast also did a wonderful job. The power of this film depends on its story that made the viewer feel like what Solomon has come through... The emotion that this movie offered was that awesome so I was drawn into this film... The one disturbing thing, at least for me, is Steve McQueen's directing style that has many resemblances to Terence Malick's but they are definitely not the same…
