What happens with the people that get out of the prison? How to they get on with their lives? "All is Bright" tells one of such stories, but with a mild comic twist to it. Paul Giamatti play the role of Denis, a small thief, who just got out of the four year imprisonment. All he wants is to get back home to his wife and daughter, and getting his old life back. But what he finds out is quite a surprise. After searching for a job, he gets a negative response. When trying to get back home, he finds out that his wife has moved on with her life and told their daughter he had passed away after a long cancer fight. With nothing to do and no place to go to, Denis teams up with one of his friends and spends some time trying to cell Christmas trees, in order to buy his daughter a small piano for Christmas. He always thinks of new and creative ways to get costumers attention, but it almost never works, because they all just pass by him or stop and look, but without buying anything. At those moments he starts thinking about all the cash he could have stolen and gets a reminder from his friend about the time spent in jail. Giamatti sure did a hell of a job with this role, and it is absolute pleasure watching him on the screen.
