Symbolist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) is again drawn into a mysterious murder case. This time, the whole story is placed in Italy. Tracking down the clues left in the murder of a physicist Father Silvano Bentivoglio (Carmen Argenziano), he gets teamed up with one more scientist called Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer) and begins his search. As two of them try to read the clues the right way, they discover the secret brotherhood called Illuminati. As they follow the clues, they are to go from place to place all around the Vatican as well as the whole Rome. A mysterious killer who they are trying to capture has already captivated four of main cardinals in order to kill them slowly and in the most painful way. Robert and Vittoria are now running against the time, doing their best to decrypt the clues and find out what do certain locations mean and if they are relevant for the case. During that investigation Robert and Vittoria come to places like four altars of science: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Those locations and elements turn out to be their next clue, but will they make it in time and see what the killer is really up to? A dangerous adventure is yet to come.
