What is the movie Apocalypse Now about?
Here is yet another great story about the U.S. - Viet Nam War in which we are following Captain Willard in his mission to protect the U.S. and its interests. The story is about an experienced soldier and an operative Captain Benjamin Willard who has been withdrawn from a drunken state. He needs to accept the most daring mission of them all, which he does obviously. There is one goal on his mind – to travel to the Nyugn river and kill a Green Beret Colonel named Kurtz. This Colonel is deep in the jungle and it will not be easy for the soldier to find him but there is nothing to stop him on his way since he is more than ready to do whatever it takes in order to complete the mission. Did we mention that he is insane and that it is one of the additional reasons for him to kill him, but it is also making it much more difficult to do it. While giving his best to accomplish the mission the best way possible. Willard goes through the same hell that the Colonel has been through and that is why Apocalypse Now is going to keep you seated in your chair. Director Francis Ford Coppola and writer John Milius are telling a great story and they are doing it more than effectively. In Apocalypse Now you have a chance to see brilliant Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall...

It was a shock for me the fact that in the movie about war, surfers are surfing on the waves, while at the same time near them bombs are exploding! Richard Gere has performed a small role in this movie. And it was nice to see him, even if for a small moment. I think the main idea of this movie is that we all live in apocalypto and there is no point to rush anywhere. In each of us there are two people living- one of them wants to kill, and the other one to love. One is a God and the other one is an animal.
In general i can say that i wouldn’t want this movie to create some logic thought and prove of the things seen, as it is not easy for any person to solve this issue. Because there are always two people sitting in us, and not all the time they are positive. Life is not that easy. But it is important to realize that we all live in a wrong way. The most pleasant thing was by the end of the movie when the hero performed by Martin Sheen is not asked to solve morality issues and to make decisions, as he doesn’t have the right to do that, no one does, and he being a real soldier is fulfilling the order, i guess that was a very strong moment! I think i can watch this movie a huge quantity of times!

I think that the main attention of the viewer should be concentrated not upon the subject, not upon the chronological order of events, but upon the fact how deep down in human being psychology this movie is bringing us while following the things going on on the screen. And i cannot pass by without mentioning the divine work upon the movie by its movie producers. It looks thousands of times better than the modern action movies with great special effects, while its creation was hundreds of times cheaper.
This movie has a variety of different senses, that is why it is better to watch it not once, but a few times because each time while watching it a new sense will be revealed, and this way the impression from the movie will change as well. And i can surely say that the admirers of the movies with happy ends should not turn their attention upon this movie, as it is not their type for sure, it will surely disappoint them, and the most sensitive ones can even feel depression afterwards.

The first thing that has caught my attention in this movie is “The End” song. I heard somewhere that the war in Vietnam has the best soundtrack, and now i do understand why. The Captain Willard was nervous about the fact that he didn’t had what to do in a hotel in Saigon, that is why he was getting drunk. And one day he gets a special operation to travel on the river till the jungles of Cambodia, where is hiding the almost crazy colonel Kurtz- who is the leader of the local citizens. On his way Willard is getting acquainted with the war- the various pointless murders, the cruelty in the name of goodness, soldiers who were surfing during the battle, the “bought” for a barrel of fuel “Playboy “ models and so on. In time Willard and everyone around stop realizing what is going on and why people die, what are they fighting for.
And soon Willard starts thinking why Kurtz with his reputation leaves everything and becomes a betrayer when he went to jungle? I think this captivating movie will be interesting for everyone!
