The year is 1979. With Iranians not wanting Americans in their country, the break out occurred and some of Iranian revolutionaries took over the American embassy there. The first thing the workers did, was to destroy all the documents they had as well as their CV-s. Some of them managed to escape, but some of them were taken hostages. A group of them ended up in house of Canadian ambassador. And it was moment for the White House to get them out. Except they didn't have a plan for that. So, they got a proposition from Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck). He was going as a fake co producer and co director of a fake movie, and they are going to smuggle the people out of the country as their filming crew. And as soon as they agreed to that idea, he gathered the people, fake producer, fake camera guy, everything he could. Will he be able to go through with his plan? Will he be successful in getting those runaway hostages out of the country and safely back home? Throughout this whole drama thriller, the tension level will be so high, that the audience will forget that this movie is two solid hours long.The director made it sure to get the best acting crew. Besides Ben Affleck, there are also Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Victor Garber and lots of other talented actors working on this movie.
