Drama Barney's Version comes form the talented Mordecai Richler, who wrote the original novel as well from Richard J. Lewis, who directed the movie. As you may assume, Barney is the main character of this story. Barney is the kind of guys who never fully understand the concept of love and loving someone fully. His first marriage was in Italy, because he got a girl pregnant. After that ended in betrayal, Barney starts smoking, drinking and finally, like any grumpy guy, be cynical to the core. He isn't a nice sight to see, at all. But, somehow, he manages to get the attention of another girl- a Jewish princess (Minnie Driver). She is wealthy and she wants to marry him, so.. Why not? What she constantly keeps reminding everyone is that she is wonderful, a Jewish princess as well as that she has a Masters Degree. After he catchers her cheating on him, and gets into the fight with his best friend, the guy his wife was sleeping with, he gets divorced. Again. But, the main event occurs at his wedding to this Jewish princess. There, Barney falls in love with Miriam (Rosamund Pike), one of the guests at the reception. So, as he gets married, he also falls in love with that guest he saw and chases after her. One of the main characteristics that could describe Barney in one word is "stubborn". He never gives up. As they get into the series of problems , that's exactly what he does- or better to say, doesn't do.
