The first installment of Christopher Nolan’s reboot of the Batman franchise has revived the stale superhero genre and set the template for all the superhero films to come after. The movie goes back to the early life of Bruce Wayne and the roots of what was to become Batman. We see a young Bruce attacked by a swarm of bats which leads to him developing a phobia. Soon his parents are killed by a mugger called Joe Chill, and Bruce is raised by Alfred, the family butler. Fourteen years later his parents’ killer is released on parole. Bruce goes to the trial intending to kill him, but he is beaten to it by men hired to kill Chill by a crime lord he was supposed to testify against in exchange for his freedom. Bruce travels the world and receives martial arts training from a shadowy group aptly called “League of Shadows”. Upon learning that the organization intends to destroy Gotham City, Bruce Wayne burns down the temple, killing most of its members. Wayne returns to Gotham, where he secretly works with Wayne Enterprises’ top scientist Lucius Fox on developing Batman weapons. He soon begins his battle against wrong doers, but his past in the form of League of Shadows comes back to haunt him in the most dangerous manner.
