Whenever you see Jack Black in the actors casting list, you know it's going to be hilarious and that you should never ever miss the movie. This one is called Bernie and Richard Linklater, the same guy who brought us School of Rock and Dazed and Confused, was one of the co-writers and a director as well. The plot is simple and really captivating. It all starts with town people talking about him and her. Jack Black is playing one of the main roles, a middle-aged guy called Bernie Tiede, who is living in Carthage and working in a funeral business. The town people like him a lot. It seems like he can't do wrong. At one point, he starts dating with a local bittered widow Marjorie Nugent, who is played by Shirley MacLaine. They hit it right off and soon they were a true couple. They went to Europe, Russia, Acapulco, everywhere and they went first class, nothing less. It seemed like she hit the lottery with him by her side. But, that wasn't enough. Soon, that relationship started turning into him being her service. She was demanding, condescending, and really hard to put up with. Lots of them wondered how he puts up with her. So, one day, Bernie ran out of patience. With Jack Black and Shirley McLane in main roles, and Matthew McConaughey as Danny Buck, the town sheriff, this movie shows a funny side of a small town life.
