There are lots of borders of every kind. From the physical ones, which can separate one country from another, one back yard from another, over borders that are dictated by the social convention, like a marriage or what people should or shouldn’t do, to the ones which only exist in a person's mind. This movie deals with every kind of them. In the basic, the story is about a married woman and her attraction to a single doctor as she goes on a support mission to Africa. But, actually, is a lot more than just a romance movie. The movie is placed in 1984, as Sarah Jordan (Angelina Jolie), an American woman who is married to an English man, Henry Bauford, son of one of the most wealthiest men in the world at that time, decides to go to to Africa in order to help. There, she meets Nick Callahan (Clive Owen), a doctor, who is there as a volunteer, and also a passionate fighter against the war-situation in the country. As two of them get closer, she finds herself getting more and more attracted to him, and as he gets caught smuggling the weapons, and is taken by their police, she is more than determined to find him again and bring him home. And in order to do that, there is not only one border to be crossed, but so many of them.
