They say that in love and war everything is allowed. That is exactly what happened here. It is the time of the beginning of the Second World War. As the Italy, who is now an ally with Germany, takes over a small Greek country, they move their forces to that place. It is the time when every family was missing a son or a husband. As the Italian soldiers get transferred to Greece, one of captains, Captain Corelli (Nicolas Cage), gets his eyes on a gorgeous woman on the street. It is a coincidence that when the soldiers need to be placed in homes, because there is not enough room in the main quarters, he gets placed to that woman's house- he gets placed by Pelagia (Penelope Cruz) and her father, Dr. Iannis. With her fiancé, the Greek man, away serving the army, Pelagia gets to spend most of her time in the company of captain Corelli. Two of them start falling in love while the Italian army is stationed there and they don't think much about his departure from there. But, as the time goes by and the end of the war is getting close, Italy changes sides and now the Italian army has to defend the same village they are in. Will they make it? And what will happen with the captain and the girl after the war is over?
