Roman Polanski has done it many times and there is no doubt that Chinatown is one of his most memorable movies ever. This one dates back to 1974 and even though it is a 40 year old movie, it is still fun to watch it and the ratings are still high. It looks like that is never going to change for sure.
Jack Nicholson plays J.J. Gittes, we also have a chance to watch Faye Dunaway as Evelyn Mulwray, there is also John Huston as Noah Cross, Perry Lopez as Escobar and other great actors of this generation.
It all happens in Los Angeles back in 1937. The story is about a private detective who is specialized in spying on wives who their husbands think that they are cheating on them. Gittes is tailing Hollis Mulwray since his wife thinks that he is cheating on her.
He is the high profile chief engineer for the LA Department of Water and Power. It is very important for him to do his job well since the citizens of LA need to have clean and fresh water all the time. While Gittes is following him, he is seeing some usual and some not so usual things about him. He meets with some people in strange places.
After a while, he sees him meeting a young lady who is not his wife and that is when he became suspicious.
This is basically when the story unfolds and this is the most interesting part of the movie. In order to learn more about the movie, you will have to watch it and, believe us, you will be more than thrilled.
