How to Treat a Celebrity You're Dating

What is the movie Collaborator about?
When you have a movie that was written, directed and starred by the same person, it can either be amazingly good or amazingly bad. In this case, it's the first option. Martin Donovan was the one who thought of the story, wrote screenplay and directed the movie. Not only that, he gave himself one of the leading roles in it, as well. This 87 minute long comedy drama is exactly what will brighten up your day at any moment. It all starts with getting to know Robert Longfellow (Martin Donovan), who is a writer. After a successful novel, it seemed like he simply can't get it to work any more. His latest play, as few of them before, were characterised as not so good. As the critics on the radio say, "like he's fading into irrelevancy." That's when he decides to go and visit his mom in Los Angeles. After not so long flight, he gets home and catches up with her. He sees his neighbour and a long time friend from childhood Gus Williams (David Morse), who is constantly in and out of the prison. They catch up and share a beer. When Gus finds himself in a trouble and police surrounding his house, he takes Robert as his hostage. When asked what he plans to do, Gus answers: "The plan is that you and I hoist a few beers, man". Careless and with a big beer supply, they stay indoors and form an interesting collaboration. Gus has stories to tell and Robert needs a new material for writing.
