Contest is a family drama written an directed by Anthony Joseph Giunta and stars Kenton Duty, Danny Flaherty and Mary Beth Peil. It is a story of a high school student named Tommy who is bullied by a popular student and star athlete Matt. Suddenly, Matt befriends Tommy even tho Tommy is suspicious of his intentions. He accepts this awkward friendship in order to enter a cooking contest and win a prize. Another reason to why Tommy accepts this friendship is because he thinks that it would be easier to impress his crush Sarah when he isn't getting beat up by Matt. The cooking contest is in full swing but Sarah sees a conspiracy, but nobody believes her. Tommy has to figure out whether he can trust Matt or not. First off, the music is excellent and so is the cast of this wonderful movie. There is plenty of scheming in this movie and it can become pretty confusing if you don't pay attention to the details. Everyone can relate to this movie and recognize oneself in some characters. One of the best parts about Contest is the fact that this movie wraps everything up nicely. There are no loose ends and the movie ends with a satisfying ending. If you are interested in seeing a non typical movie which doesn't focus only on bullying then Contest could be a good movie for you.
