“Contraband” represents a remake on Reykjavik-Rotterdam, an Icelandic thriller, focusing on a former contrabandist, trying to lead normal life as a night guard. Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlberg), an ex-smuggler, has long ago forgotten his outlaw life, but when his brother-in-law, Andy, bungles a drug deal and gets a great debt to his cruel boss, Tim Briggs, Chris is forced to start the only thing he does the best – smuggling – to help Andy to settle his problems. Together with his friend, Sebastian, Chris goes to Panama to come back with millions of false bills. However, several hours before he gets cash, things start falling apart and now Chris has to use his wit and all the skills learned to navigate criminal drug lords, hit men and cops, before his sons and his wife Kate get in danger
