Meet Gru (Steve Carrell), he is a supervillain. At the beginning of the movie we see Gru as he shows off his stolen prizes. As he comes to an evil bank to ask for a loan, he gets to meet young and ambitious guy who calls himself Vector. When his loan gets declined, with the explanation that there are more ambitious thieves than him, like Vector, who had stolen the Pyramids. Upon his way out, he freezes Vector and takes off to steal the shrink ray from the high guarded facility. After he manages to steal it, Vector manages to take the shrink ray away from him and shrinks him as well. As he thinks about how to steal the shrink ray back, he spots little girls who sell cookies. Then, he gets the idea to adopt them and use them to get what he wants from Vector. As his goal is only to use them, he doesn't actually know how to take care of them. But as the days go by, he starts worrying about them and really starts behaving towards them as if they are his real daughters- takes them to ballet classes and everything else. So, as he gets what he wants and manages to pull off the biggest heist of the century, he also gets in the position to choose between being a supervillain and a great dad.
