His girlfriend Julie (Stephanie Szostak) is totally against it and doesn't want him to go, and he agrees with her, but starts the plans behind her back. As he is looking for an idea, Tim accidentally runs over Barry (Carell) on the street. As he gets out of the car to check if the guy is ok, he realizes that he is exactly the guy he needs. As two of them get to know each other, they find another guy, called Therman (Zach Galifianakis), who is even worse. So, Tim decides to bring both of them to his boss' dinner party. Will two of them be enough to get his office and higher position in the company?
