When Tom Eyen wrote a book, he surely never thought that the story would come out to be this big. After it was a huge success, Bill Condon teamed up with him and adapted his book to a screenplay for the new upcoming movie he's going to direct. The story starts in 1960s and is placed in Detroit. The whole thing starts with Curtis Taylor, Jr. (Jamie Foxx), who is a regular car salesman. But, as he is planning on getting into a music business, he needs something to start with. Really early after he starts with the whole idea, he spots a group of three young women with amazing voices. They are called "The Dreamettes". He manages to get in touch with James "Thunder" Early (Eddie Murphy), who was in the need for backing voices and gets them their first gig. After they show well, he has even bigger plans for them. He starts making lots of changes with first of them is changing the lead singer- Effie White (Jennifer Hudson) and putting a lot softer-voiced Deena Jones (Beyoncé Knowles) instead of her. Then, he changes their group name into Dreams. And not too long is before he actually fires Effie and bans her from the group. Now, trio has come to duo. Will they be trio ever again and will Deena remember where she came from and with whom?
