When people talk about Australia they have in mind “The Land of The Love ”. Constantly nice weather, summer all year long and an ocean is what defines the picture. Around forty years ago situation Down Under was little bit different than what most people think. Communities were scattered all over the continent and they were tight knight with conservative way of live. All knew things were not welcomed. Opposite to that violence and outlaws are well know things so they are nothing new. Movie Drift is placed in Aussie Land back in 1970’s. Story is straight forward. Mother Kat (Robyn Malcolm) with two sons moved from Sydney to Margaret River in west Australia. First minutes of movie are filmed in black and white to symbolize old memories. Two brothers are main characters younger Jimmy (Xavier Samuel) and older Andy (Myles Pollard). Younger Jimmy has his dreams and fools around with bad company. While Andy is working in timber mill and his mother Kat spends time at sawing machine, Jimmy is riding huge waves with desire to compete at professional surfing competitions. When Andy gets fed up with treatment at the timber mill story gets interesting. He decides to help his younger brother and make money in surfing world. They start small business and in order to make dreams come true they have to deal with wild bikers and stiff people from community. Drift is movie about passion, family, brotherhood and persistence. Story about two brothers with love for wave riding is placed at perfect moment. Right before surf industry starts to grow and make money.
