Years ago animated movies became high quality entertainment. With popularization of 3D technology they are getting better and better every day. Twenty Century Fox and Blue Sky Studio took interesting story written by nine individuals and called Chris Wedge to direct it. They made “Epic”. This animated movie should not be taken light. Estimated budget is around hundred million USD. With animated characters creators have much more room to emphasize personalities simply by drawing characters faces and bodies more extreme. Stars of the movie, next to drawing and animation team, are still actors. Their voices can’t be replaced. List of the crew is very long and interesting. Some voices are given by iconic musician Steven Tailor and newborn famous rapper Pitbull. “Epic” starts in our world, following teenager Mary Katherine. After her mother dies she goes to live with her father. Her father, a strange scientist Professor Bomba, is key part for the story. He is obsessed with studying new cultures from the forest. Bomb puts aside his young daughter and devotes to tiny warriors that discovered. Mary doesn’t believe to father and gets angry with him. One day when he doesn’t come back home things get interesting. Mary goes to the woods to find him and gets shrunken down. At that moment she realizes that Professor Bomba was telling the truth. Marry gets in the middle of the war between good and bad creatures. From the start of the adventure she gets involved in rag tag group trying to survive and save the day. Blue Sky Studio demonstrated with “Epic” that animated movies can be thrilling and can handle action as good as conventional movies can. This great family movie.
