Meet Tripp (Matthew McConaughey). He is a nice guy. He is 35, has a pretty interesting job, great buddies he hangs out with, a nice car, passion for sailing and lots of stuff he needs to get a decent girl to spend his life with. Except the girl, of course. So, lots of them are wondering what they are missing here. Well, Tripp still lives with his parents and isn't really planning to move out, but his parents would really like to see him gone. Not that they don't love him, but they think that he should have been capable of living alone until now. So, they decide to take things in their own hands and hire a professional- Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker). She is a professional motivator, as she says, and she has the perfect formula for getting young men to grow up in no time. There is the whole act set up: from chance encounter over to dinner, sharing some important emotional moments, having him teach her something, up to getting him encouraged to go and live on his own. So, the whole thing starts with his parents approval. As the story goes on we see this professional finding herself in an unusual situation- she is actually falling in love with her new customer, which she should never do. And to make things even more complicated, one of his friends falls for her roommate Kit (Zooey Deschanel), who seems to be having a problem with a mockingbird that doesn't want to leave her alone.
