Scientists have those moments when they are about to discover something new and they get all so into what they are working on, that it often happens that they forget about the rest of the world. One of them is also Philip (Robin Williams), who is in fact chemistry professor, but is also working on something great. On the very important day, as he is about to marry the woman he loves, Sara Jean (Marcia Gay Harden), a school teacher, he discovers something amazing- a rubber-like substance that can fly and calls it Flubber. Of course, Sara Jean is left at the altar again, and she decides that she doesn't want to talk to him again. At one point, she starts getting the attention from his rival from the other university. With his latest invention, Philip tries to experiment and find the application in the real world, but as the other scientists see that, amongst which is his rival, they want their hands on the Flubber as well. What they don't get is that Flubber is actually a very rebellious creature that has a mind of its own and loves bouncing here and there and breaking stuff along the way. And as Philip manages to discover, Flubber loves music and loves dancing to it as well.
